Sisterhood Brings the Women of CIS Together

Since its inception, the Sisterhood of CIS has been bringing together the women of our community to socialize and grow collectively through programs that embody our Shul’s core values of Torah, Tefillah, Achdut and Chesed.

Thanks to the explosive growth of CIS, our roster of fun, enriching and inclusive Sisterhood programs are embraced by more and more members of all ages. Whether participating in a mother-daughter Challah Bake, a kosher “Chopped” competition or Ladies Nights Out, the women of CIS love greeting new members and getting to know one another better.

A hallmark of Sisterhood’s commitment to Achdut and Chesed is the wide array of fundraising events designed to benefit our community as a whole. Among the most popular are our annual Mishloach Manot fundraiser, which assist our Shul as well as charitable organizations; our Holiday Boutiques, open to local communities as well; and our annual Rosh Hashanah greeting card. These and other successful efforts have enabled us to complete much-needed CIS infrastructure projects such as the construction of a new Kelim Mikvah; the renovation of our restrooms; and the purchase of new tables and chairs for use in our spacious Social Hall.

Additionally, Sisterhood sponsors our Shul’s annual and memorable Shabbos Hagadol and Yom HaAtzmaut celebrations: three-course, sit-down luncheons at beautifully decorated tables.

Sisterhood members also have a longstanding commitment to Torah and Tefillah; for example, our women’s Tehillim group has davened together for decades, and many of our members also participate in shiurim throughout the year.

During the pandemic we redoubled our efforts to connect our entire community through game nights, contests and comedy performances online, as well as “drive-through” distributions of Yom Tov treats like cheesecake, challah and honey. And, of course, we continue our acts of Chesed by welcoming new members to CIS and coordinating meals for those undergoing life transitions.
