Our Youth Department

As the CIS community continues to grow, we continue to expand our programming
to meet the evolving needs of our youngest members,
the future leaders of Am Yisrael.

Our professionally managed Youth Department offers a wide array of programs for five age groups. Among the highlights are Parent-Child Torah learning, monthly social activities, separate teen Onegs for girls and boys, and mentorship opportunities.Since the start of the pandemic, the CIS Youth Department has been introducing programs designed to connect our youngest members to one another even when they can’t learn and play together. Among the most popular innovations are our age-appropriate Zoom clubs, complemented by an ever-evolving array of seasonal, socially distanced recreational and educational activities, such as our Motzei Shabbos Parent-Child Learning program.

Our perennially popular Shabbos youth groups focusing on Torah, Tefillah, Achdut and Chesed— are combined with games and play. Five groups are overseen by our professional Youth Directors:

KETANIM: Age 3 and Nursery
CHAMUDIM: Kindergarten, Primer and Pre-K
CHANICHIM: Boys in grades 1-4
CHANICHOT: Girls in grades 1-4

Our Youth Directors are ably assisted by Youth Leaders (in grades 9-12) and Youth Leaders in Training (in grades 5-8), who serve as role models while gaining valuable mentorship skills. A specially designed teen program offers opportunities for girls and boys to socialize separately and broaden their interests.

In addition, The CIS Youth Department offers an expansive slate of entertaining and informative activities throughout the year, including sporting events, theater trips, rock-climbing, ice skating, barbecues, and our annual Chanukah Chagiga and Purim Carnival. Parents are active participants in our programs, forging links with one another while their children form lifelong friendships.
