BS"D
Each of the korbanos offered in the Mikdash had its own set of instructions, and regulations. The directions related to all different aspects of the offerings, such as what type of animal/foodstuff could be used, exactly how it was to be brought, who benefited from the sacrifice, if people were allowed to partake of it, and what were the time constraints.
When discussing the Korban Todah- the Thanksgiving Offering, the Torah teaches that it must be eaten on the day it was brought; none can be leftover until the morning (7:15). There are other sacrifices that have the same limitation, but they are generally brought as an act of repentance for a sin. The todah is a peace-offering, and peace-offerings are normally allowed to be consumed over a two day period. Why is the todah different?
The Imrei Emes (R. Avrohom Mordechai Alter; 3rd Rebbe of Gerrer Chasidic Dynasty; 1865-1948) explains that the korban todah is brought to thank Hashem for a miracle. As such, every day we should be bringing a new sacrifice, because every day Hashem performs new miracles on our behalf. We know this from the Modim section of the Amidah, where we thank the Almighty for “Neesecha she’bechol yom eemanu- Your miracles that are with us every day.” Therefore, the limit on the todah is only one day, as opposed to the other peace-offerings, to drive home this lesson- each day the Ribbono Shel Olam, the Master of the World, does new miracles on our behalf as an expression of His love and concern for us. May we merit to see the new miracles each day.
Have a great Shabbos and a Chag kasher v’saemach.
