Rabbi Uzi and Rachel Beer have been the Youth Directors for Congregation Israel of Springfield since September, 2006 shortly after they were married. Rabbi Uzi, who also contributes Shiurim and sermons to the general congregation, received his Smicha from Yeshiva University. He studied four years in Israel where he served in the IDF. The Cleveland, Ohio native currently teaches at Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy Middle School and during the summers is the Rosh Moshava at Moshava Wild Rose Camp in Wisconsin.
Rachel, who hails from Manalapan, New Jersey, graduated from Stern College with a Master’s degree in speech language pathology. She currently works in a school for children and adults diagnosed with autism. Rachel is active in the Congregation Israel Sisterhood and with the Mikvah Yisroel of Springfield.
