Rabbi's Message

  • July 03, 2015

As the 3 Weeks begin this evening, we once again will be forming a Machsom Lfi group to practice responsible speech, and increase our Ahavas Yisrael. This is a collaborative effort in which the participants break up the waking hours of a day into hourly slots, and each person signs up for a specific slot, committing not to speak any lashon hara during this time. During his or her time, the individual makes a concerted effort to think before they speak, to pay attention to what is coming out of his or her mouth, and analyze it before it is released into the world. When you train yourself to be attentive for just one hour, it spills over into the rest of your day in a very pleasant fashion. You will naturally become more sensitive to the poison of negative speech and will develop a heightened awareness regarding the impact a word can have on another person. A more positive outlook towards others, and life in general, can result from such an undertaking. (This idea is also major theme in this weeks parsha.) Perhaps most important of all, it can bring great blessing into your life, and into a world that is much in need of some great blessings.

Anyone interested in joining our three week Machsom Lfi project, from July 4th through July 26th, should please email me to receive your time slot, and feel the difference that a word can make.

Have a great Shabbos and a meaningful 3 Weeks.
